Facilities Review Update

Since October 2016, District 200 has gone through a process to review our facilities. This group is comprised of community members, administration, and staff, who have been engaged in a process of reviewing the current state of District 200 facilities along with examining future needs for facility utilization.

PTO Family Fun Night - January 26, 2017 @ 6:30 PM

Our next Family Fun night will be a Pajama Jam at Mary Endres on Janaury 26th in the gym.  There is no cost to attend the event and we hope that everyone is able to come!

Reach for The Stars Reading Program

Students will be challenged to read (or be read to) 30 minutes EACH day for 12 days! This is an exciting way to get them in the habit of daily reading AND to build their confidence as young readers. Students will record their minutes in their reading log. Students will get sponsors to support their reading. Encourage your students to get some sponsors…they will ALL love to get rewarded with new books! 100% of the pledges they collect is used to get new Usborne books for them, their school, and help field trip costs: 50% to students, 20% to the School Library, 30% to the PTO for fieldtrips! Students will turn everything in to you on January 23 – January 30. Please place in this envelope and send to the office. You do not need to count the minutes or the money. I will take care of everything! ☺ $100 Challenge! Students bringing in $100 or more will receive a FREE box of Activity Cards (many to choose from) PLUS $50 in books. Tuesday, February 7 students will pick out their books to order (times TBA). On Thursday, March 23, students will receive their books and awards! Awards will be given to the student with the highest number of minutes read and most pledges brought in. This will be done by grade level and also by overall school. Grand Prize – Students reading 360+ minutes AND bringing in $10.00 or more in pledges will be eligible for the drawing of a T-Rex Excavation Kit or Shark Excavation Kit (specific kit type is based on availability). All Participants will be eligible to win 1 of 5 Usborne Books. Most Participation – Class that has the most reading minutes gets an ice cream party!

Young Author's Program - Books Due Feb. 20, 2017

The Young Author program gives students the opportunity to write their own book. Books are then judged at the building and district levels. District level winners are invited to participate in the state’s Young Author's Conference at Illinois State University. This year the district will also be hosting a “Young Author’s Showcase Night” where district level winners will have the option of doing a reading of their book for the community. Listed below are some guidelines for Young Author books. We hope your child will be interested in participating this year!

Updated Information About Facilities Review Committee

Please see below for a link to a letter from Superintendent Dr. Michael Moan regarding the district’s Facilities Review process. In addition, in order to provide information on the progress of the committee, a Community Forum meeting will be held on December 20, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Woodstock High School Auditorium.  If you have questions about the Facilities Review Committee, the meeting, or the process described in the letter, feel free to contact Dr. Moan’s office at 815-337-5406.
